Matej Bel University (Slovak: Univerzita Mateja Bela) is a university in the central Slovak town of Banská Bystrica. The University was established on July 1st 1992 and inaugurated on October 23th 1992. It is named after Matej Bel, an outstanding Slovak-Hungarian scholar in the 18th century.
